What is an Apostille?

An Apostille is an international stamp that verifies a document is real. For Portuguese visa applications, all Turkish public documents (criminal record, birth certificate, marriage certificate) must be Apostilled.

In Turkey, you get this from the District Governor (Kaymakamlık) or the Governor (Valilik). Without this specific stamp, the Portuguese authorities will treat your documents as invalid paper.
