Quiet Hours & Noise Laws
Portuguese law protects rest periods. The "Quiet Hours" are strictly defined between 23:00 and 07:00. During this time, loud music, washing machines, or construction work in apartments are prohibited.
Construction work is only allowed on weekdays between 08:00 and 20:00. If neighbors violate these rules, you can call the police (PSP or GNR), who can issue fines. Persistent noise issues can also be reported to the City Hall (Câmara Municipal).
