Public vs. Private Schools

Public schools in Portugal are free and generally high quality, but instruction is 100% in Portuguese. For older children (10+), the language barrier can be tough. Private international schools cost between €500 and €1,500 monthly.

To register for public school, you need to go to the "Agrupamento de Escolas" in your residential area. Priority is given to students living in the neighborhood. The school year starts in mid-September.
