VIES for Freelancers (Recibos Verdes)

If you are a freelancer (Recibos Verdes) invoicing clients in other EU countries, you must register for VIES to use the "Reverse Charge" VAT mechanism. This allows you to issue invoices without adding Portuguese VAT.

You must select this option when opening your activity or submit a change declaration later. Without VIES validation, your EU clients may be forced to withhold tax, complicating your accounting significantly.
