Automatic Renewal of Residency

To reduce backlogs, Portugal has implemented an "Automatic Renewal" system via the IRN website. If your biometric data is up to date, you can renew your card online without visiting an AIMA office.

You simply log in, pay the fee (approx. €30), and the new card is mailed to your home. Check the IRN portal 30 days before your card expires to see if you are eligible for this streamlined process.
