Travel Insurance Requirements

For the initial D-type visa application, you need Travel Health Insurance. It must cover at least €30,000 in medical expenses, including repatriation, and be valid for the entire duration of the visa (usually 120 days).

The policy must be valid for all Schengen countries. Once you arrive in Portugal and get your residency card, you will switch to the public SNS system or private local insurance.
