Pregnancy & Childbirth Costs

Maternal healthcare is entirely free in the public system (SNS), regardless of your residency status complexity. Pregnant women receive a "Boletim de Saúde da Grávida" which exempts them from all medical user fees.

This covers all prenatal appointments, ultrasounds, and the delivery itself. Public hospitals in Portugal are well-equipped for births, though you may share a recovery room with other mothers.
